The OECD has published the “Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes: Policies for Better Health and Quality of Care” report, which assesses OECD health systems along the pathway by which cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes are prevented, managed and treated. It examines prevention programmes to improve lifestyles, the strength of the primary care system to diagnose risk factors and manage disease as well as the effectiveness of the acute care sector in delivering high quality care. The report develops a better understanding of how countries can improve health system performance to reduce the burden of these two diseases.
