Education for persons with diabetes is considered an integral component of diabetes care, and it is intended mainly to develop skills in self-management and contribute to the patient‘s empowerment. Effective education needs trained health professionals, with expertise in education and diabetes management. The paper presents a review of quality criteria for patient education and health professionals training programs.
