The Directorate General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission released the Final Report on the scoping study on communication in preventing and addressing chronic diseases. The study, realised by ICF International, aims at of developing a strong basis for the design of effective communications tools and cross-border campaigns to tackle chronic disease at European level. It provides an overview of the key communication issues and identifies differences and characteristics of existing good practice. The study focuses on the four main risks of factors for chronic disease, i.e., smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet and alcohol consumption, and gathers a varied and wide evidence base, highlighting the role of formative research and strategic partnerships in successful campaigning.
